Islamabad is the jewel of Pakistan. It is the capital of Islamic Republic of Pakistan that was founded in 1960.

Islamabad is situated at the altitude of 1500 to 2000 feet. It is located on the northwest periphery of the Potohar plateau. River Kurang flows to its south. Islamabad’s planned area has the total area of 906 square kilometres surrounded by plains and pastures. Its city area is organized into eight areas, namely, administrative, diplomatic, commercial, industrial, green belt, institutional, residential, and national park. As for the ethnic make of the city is concerned, it is quite diverse.
