Islamabad is situated at the altitude of 1500 to 2000 feet. It is located on the northwest periphery of the Potohar plateau. River Kurang flows to its south. Islamabad’s planned area has the total area of 906 square kilometres surrounded by plains and pastures. Its city area is organized into eight areas, namely, administrative, diplomatic, commercial, industrial, green belt, institutional, residential, and national park.
