Ayubia is the popular name of Ayubia National Park, where hundreds of thousands tourist come every year. Summer is the peak tourist season here.
Ayubia, which is a famous resort complex spread over protected 33 square kilometres, is located in Western Himalayan global ecoregion. It is an important ecological area. Its altitude is 8,000 feet on average. It is located in district Abbottabad in the province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan. It is 100 kilometres away from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. In other words, it takes two hours from Islamabad to reach here. It is a complex of four small resorts, namely, Khanspur, Khairagali, Ghora Dhaka and Changali, four towns, namely, Thandiani, Nathiagali, Ayubia and Khanspur, and several villages.
As it is now a national park since 1984, so it falls within the purview of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department. All these points are worth visiting for their panoramic views, trekking and hiking, riding trails, picnic spots and other features. Also, the transparent waters of springs invite people to indulge in soothing entertainment. Ghora Dhaka has got an attraction that appeals to the local tourists in particular. It is a chairlift. This chairlift lets the visitor enjoy the heart-wining beauty of Pine Hills of Ghora Dhaka. It was the first chair lift installed in Pakistan.
Bio-diversity is noticeable in the park that makes it a very good habitat for plants and animals. Asiatic Leopard, Black Bear, etc. are noteworthy in the animal species. For example, it houses up to 203 bird species. It is also en route to many migratory birds. There are found many herbs to treat a number of ailments.
The rainfall here amounts to 1,244 mm. Its climate is pleasant in summer. However, May and June blend placid heat in its climate. Monsoon of July and August paves the ground for winter in this area that becomes quite harsh eventually. During winter, western airs cause snow and ornate Ayubia with whiteness from mid-December to March. The appropriate months to visit in are March, April, May, June, July, August and September. Amongst these moths, September is the most suitable month, and May is the second most proper time to come in this park. September not only brings quietness in the park but also is capable of slashing the accommodation cost up to 50%.
Donga Gali is the entrance point to this park. This Gali is 3 kilometres away from Nathia Gali. In order to provide accommodation facilities, there are several facility. TDCP motel tops amongst all those. There is an adequate number of shops to buy souvenirs and other essentials.
